Dylan Cease, Jake Cronenworth and Yu Darvish, Padres

Cease left his May 7 start against the Yankees in the seventh inning with a right forearm cramp. The decision was precautionary, and Cease passed postgame tests from the training staff.

Cronenworth (non-displaced right rib fracture) joined Triple-A El Paso on May 6 for what could be a two-game rehab stint. It's possible he rejoins the big league club for the May 9 series opener in Colorado.

Darvish (right elbow inflammation) has thrown several bullpen sessions, ramping up intensity with each. He recently traveled to the team's complex in Arizona and could face hitters in the coming days.

Hunter Greene and Noelvi Marte, Reds

Greene was placed on the 15-day IL on May 8 with a Grade 1 right groin strain.

Marte was placed on the 10-day injured list on May 7, retroactive to May 5, with a left oblique strain.

Shohei Ohtani, Evan Phillips, Teoscar Hernández, Tommy Edman, Michael Kopech and Clayton Kershaw, Dodgers

Ohtani (recovery from right elbow and left shoulder surgeries) is expected to have an up and down bullpen session on May 10.

Phillips was placed on the 15-day injured list with right forearm discomfort on May 7.

Hernández was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left groin strain on May 6, one day after he exited a win over the Marlins in the fourth inning.

Edman (right ankle inflammation) resumed running on May 6, his biggest remaining hurdle. He is tentatively expected to return during the series vs. the A's, which begins on May 13.

Kopech (right shoulder impingement) walked all five hitters he faced in his first rehab appearance with Triple-A Oklahoma City on May 8. He is expected to need at least five more appearances before being activated.

Kershaw (recovery from left toe and left knee surgeries) threw six hitless innings against the Reds' Arizona Complex League affiliate on May 7.

Kris Bryant and Ezequiel Tovar, Rockies

Bryant (lumbar degenerative disk disease) has elected to undergo an ablation procedure to reduce his pain level with the hopes of resuming his rehab afterwards.

Tovar (left hip contusion) took batting and fielding practice on May 7, and he ran the bases on May 8.

Yordan Alvarez, Astros

Alvarez was placed on the 10-day injured list on May 5 with inflammation in his right hand. Manager Joe Espada said on May 7 that an MRI revealed that Alvarez has a muscle strain in his right hand that will simply require some rest before he returns to the lineup.

Nolan Arenado and Iván Herrera, Cardinals

Arenado (back spasms) was scratched from the starting lineup minutes before the Cardinals' May 7 game was about to start.

Herrera (left knee bone bruise) caught seven innings for Triple-A Memphis on May 7. It was “the best he’s felt,” manager Oliver Marmol said.

Andrés Giménez, Max Scherzer and Erik Swanson, Blue Jays

Giménez (right quad tightness) underwent an MRI on May 8 after a May 7 collision at first base but is still being considered day-to-day.

Scherzer (right thumb inflammation) faced live batters on May 7 for the first time since his injury. The plan is for Scherzer to throw live again this weekend in Seattle with a higher pitch count before figuring out the next steps.

Swanson (median nerve entrapment) got a second opinion on his forearm issue from a doctor, but still showed no structural damage. He was scheduled to throw a bullpen in Florida on May 6 and hopes to throw in some FCL games at the end of the week.

Corbin Burnes and Justin Martinez, D-backs

Burnes (right shoulder inflammation) missed his scheduled start on May 5 but should be ready to go for his next start.

Martinez (right shoulder inflammation) began a throwing program on May 6 and is still expected to return as soon as he is eligible on May 16.

Joe Ryan, Twins

Ryan did not make his scheduled start on May 8 vs. the Orioles due to illness.

Shota Imanaga, Cubs

Imanaga was placed on the 15-day injured list on May 5 with a strained left hamstring. He'll likely miss more than two weeks.

Spencer Strider and Ronald Acuña Jr., Braves

Strider (right hamstring strain) took another step toward returning to Atlanta's rotation when he threw a bullpen session on May 7.

Having re-strengthened his quad muscles, Acuña will not need to make another visit to surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache. The Braves haven't revealed a timetable, but Acuña could return by the end of the month.

Zach Eflin, Tyler O'Neill and Jordan Westburg, Orioles

Eflin (right lat strain) threw a bullpen session on May 7 and will return from the IL to start during the series against the Angels from May 9-11.

O'Neill (neck inflammation) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Norfolk on May 6 in Nashville. He is expected to return to the O's on May 9.

Westburg (left hamstring strain) worked out with Triple-A Norfolk in Nashville on May 6 and will begin a rehab assignment later in the week.

Giancarlo Stanton and Jonathan Loáisiga, Yankees

Stanton (torn tendons in both elbows) took on-field batting practice on May 7. Manager Aaron Boone said that Stanton could be ready to return to the lineup when eligible later this month.

Loáisiga (right UCL surgery) had his rehab assignment transferred to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, where he will make at least five appearances beginning on May 7.

Andrew Benintendi, White Sox

Benintendi was placed on the 10-day injured list on May 7 (retroactive to May 5) with a left calf strain.

Walker Buehler, Kutter Crawford, Richard Fitts and Romy Gonzalez, Red Sox

Buehler was placed on the 15-day injured list May 2 with right shoulder bursitis. His MRI showed no structural damage. He was scheduled to resume playing catch on May 7.

Crawford (right patellar soreness) threw a live bullpen on May 6 and is expected to throw another on May 9.

Fitts (right mild pectoral strain) threw his first bullpen session on May 5 and was scheduled to throw another on May 8.

Gonzalez (back tightness) exited the May 7 game after colliding with Rangers' first baseman Josh Smith. Manager Alex Cora said on May 8 that Gonzalez is “sore but he’ll be ready for the weekend."

Brandon Woodruff, Sal Frelick, Freddy Peralta and Aaron Civale, Brewers

Woodruff (right shoulder surgery) threw 83 pitches and allowed two runs in five innings in what could be his final rehab start for Triple-A Nashville on May 6.

Frelick exited Milwaukee's series finale against the Cubs on May 4 with left knee discomfort. An MRI revealed only inflammation. Frelick resumed some light activity on May 6.

Peralta (groin tightness) threw on flat ground May 7 and said he expects to make his next start.

Civale (left hamstring cramping) began a rehab assignment on May 8 with Triple-A Nashville.

Tanner Bibee and Lane Thomas, Guardians

Bibee is scheduled to start as expected on May 10. The right-hander exited his May 4 start against the Blue Jays prior to the sixth inning due to cramping in both legs.

Thomas (right wrist bone bruise) has started a swing progression. He is trending toward beginning game activity (hitting, running and fielding) "soon," manager Stephen Vogt said on May 5.

Kyle Wright and Hunter Harvey, Royals

Wright (right shoulder surgery) made his second rehab start on May 7 with Double-A Northwest Arkansas, allowing four runs and needing 49 pitches to get through two innings.

Harvey (right teres major strain) felt soreness after throwing live BP on May 5, per a May 8 update.

Kiner-Falefa (right hamstring strain) has resumed baseball activities and is expected to start running the bases by this weekend, per a May 7 update.

Gonzales (non-displaced fracture of left ankle) is taking batting practice and running, per a May 7 update. He is anticipated to start running the bases this weekend, which is the last prerequisite before a rehab assignment.

Horwitz (right wrist surgery) had his rehab assignment transferred to Triple-A Indianapolis on May 6.
